You will need to know menu items and what types of foods you can select and the prices PER PLATE they will charge.... Also, you will need to know if they make the wedding cake or YOU have to provide it... Also you should know an approximate number of quests you wish to invite because they will have to hold a room big enough ot hold your guests... I hope you aren't getting married for at least a year because most places that do great wedding receptions are usually booked a YEAR or more in advance.... Also, you will have to decide down the road what your color scheme will be.... so you will have to ask if the hotel has a specific color for their napkins and table cloths... Also, you must ask them prices for an open bar and bar tender or, if you aren't having an open bar, you must at least ask if the hotel supplies the bar tenders (included with the price they quote for using their hotel for the reception) or if you pay the bar tenders separately... Also, if you've picked your band or DJ, fine but if not, most reputable hotels that hold receptions will have a list of qualified bands or DJs that they can recommend... Prices will vary based on what you want the hotel to serve for the meal... Prime Rib will be way more expensive per plate then chicken for example... Oh and if you do not have a wedding photographer or videographer, the hotel event coordinator you speak to might even have a few he or she could recommend to you....

Is your reception at the hotel? Ask them what their max capacity is. Ask them about parking. Will it be valet or self park? How late can you have the reception. How many rooms can you book? Can you book a whole floor? Ask them for specials if you book so many rooms. Ask them about savings for multiple days. Most hotels will give you a discount if you are booking multiple rooms for guests.

Hi there!

Here's a list of questions that I asked. Some are specific to my venue/location but in general, it's most everything you need to know. I printed it out and wrote the answers next to it, because trust me, you will forget. :) Good luck with everything and congratulations!!!

What time can we arrive?
Dance floor - how many people?
What is cancellation policy?
Music or noise restrictions?
Decorating restrictions?
Are there any other events scheduled this day?
How many fit at a table?
Will the place cards need to be arranged a certain way for the server? Do you provide?
Are all linens for tables included? Choices?
Dishes/Glasses provided? Choices?
Does the wedding party count in number of guests?
What happens if we have less guests than the 70 planned? More?
Cake and Decorated table provided?
Cake cutting fee?
Cake serving is done by whom?
What time do we have to vacate?
Cleanup is done by whom?
Restroom facilities?
Are centerpieces for tables included or do we provide? If we provide, when
do you need?
If we go with options like ribbon ties for chair, candy table, etc, does
that have to be signed today or can that be added into contract later?
What happens if we go over time limit?
Do we need security for cash bar?
Is everything for ceremony provided?
Is arch included?
Is altar decorated or do we do it?
When can photographer arrive to do photos?
In event of rain/bad weather, where would ceremony be held? Tent?
List of food provided? Portion sizes?
Choice of starch?
How long for ceremony and recption?
What is a heart to heart amenity?
Who does the music for the ceremony?
How long can you stay outside and take pics?
What is your time slot?
The reception is indoors, do they serve it, or is it buffet style?
What type of china?
Are kids same price as adults?
Can we have a tasting for dinner?
When is final menu picked? How long before do you need to know?
If we do 'hosted drink hour' what is cost? Flat fee? Per guest? Per drink?
Can we upgrade if under minimum (no wasted dinners) i.e., cordials or upgrade
entrees?
Any renovations planned? What/when?
Are we able to see the type of suite we will be in?
Discount or free dinner for us and our parents?
Any prices/fees NOT included in contract?
Liquor – top shelf?
Do we get a credit if not using centerpieces? How much?
Someone directing/keeping track of time?
Guests room? Book/cost? How many/limit?

Have you rfiancee write down his questions. Ask if they charge by the hour, is there a bar, how late can we be here. Alot of questions will pop in your head as you're talking to them

What about one of the buildings at Oberlin College? Their rental prices don't look all that bad, and I'm willing to bet that their catering prices aren't either. (There's a link for catering on the link that I'm giving you, but it is making my computer freeze for some reason.)

I'm sorry you feel the need to HAVE to get a cold sterile ceremony. $150.00 and under 4 minutes should get you married quick.

about 100-150 dollars for a ceremony they have to travel to. If you go to a justice of the peace's office it is MUCH less.

i believe it depends on the judge, not all will perform weddings... call around and ask...
or if in SE michigan check out http://www.southeastmichiganofficiants.com For some reason .com doesn't show up when i post this... but it is .com
we are using her for our August wedding... will do as much or little religion as you want and prices are very very reasonable, and she is super nice... did a lot of research on this... and her rates include a rehearsal which a lot of them don't so be sure to check if that is included in what ever price you get from someone...
